The 2019 FRA Dinner will be held at the Netherwood Hotel and Spa in Grange over Sands on Saturday 2nd November, after the Dunnerdale fell race. As usual there will be dinner, prizegiving and dancing until late. You can book online but you will be asked for menu selections so maybe read the menu first.
Main picture: Dunnerdale fells by Guy Richardson.
The Netherwood is “a beautiful Grade II listed Victorian mansion offering the perfect combination of old world charm and all the essential modern facilities and comforts” and the only place in the South Lakes that can comfortably take 200 people. You can find out more, book rooms and hit the Spa by visiting the hotel website or writing to enquiries@netherwood-hotel.co.uk. Make sure to mention the dinner so you get the discounted rates.
The Dunnerdale fell race is a miniature classic that has been running since 1985. We’ve moved it forward by a week and back by an hour to fit in with the dinner, so the race will start at 1pm. Full details are on dunnerdale.fellrace.org.uk, and if you forgot to tick the “with dunnerdale” option on your dinner ticket then you can enter online there too. The male record is nearly 30 years old…

No, but you can tell us the group you’d like to sit with. We will work out a seating plan based on who’s coming and in what groups.
Yes, certainly, but it’s first-come first-served and you need to make those arrangements separately. There are concessionary rates for dinner guests: please contact the hotel for details.
Yes. You can even park at the hotel but space is limited so you must book a space. There are also many excellent lay-bys in the area
Well, it’s November in the Lake District but yes! Why not. There is a camping area at High Fell Gate with shower and toilet block.
No. Please car share and park carefully: Dunnerdale parking is always difficult and tractors love wing mirrors.
Yes. Please contact the hotel and again, space is limited. There is a concessionary price of £15 for dinner guests.
There are vegetarian and gluten free options on the menu but not vegan. The hotel will be able to work something out for you. Allergy sufferers should please contact the hotel for details.
Yes, if you do Dunnerdale. There is the usual pie, tea and deep heat afterwards in the hall. The hotel food is more fancy than that.
If the booking form doesn't appear, please click here to buy tickets
Ticket booking is handled for us by ‘ticket tailor’, which is a bit cheap and cheerful but seems to work well enough. If anything goes awry with this form, please go to their event page and try there.
You can book several tickets in one go but be ready to give names and menu choices for each person. If you’re only booking for yourself then yes, sorry, you have to give your name twice. If you’re planning to run Dunnerdale you can save some admin by entering with your ticket.
We don’t have a seating plan yet but we will try to put groups together. If you know who you want to sit with, please give a group name like ‘Dark Peak’ and encourage your friends to do the same. We will assume that everyone you book together is in the same group. There is no ‘Not Dark Peak’ option.
You don’t need to bring tickets for the main event – there will be a list on the door – but if you choose the ‘dinner and dunnerdale’ option then please bring your ticket to the race. You will only need to check your details add emergency contacts on the day.
When you click the ‘checkout’ button you’ll go through to a secure page for the credit card step. Payments are handled by Stripe.
If this goes awry please see the event page.
